My Story: From Diagnosis to a New Life


My name is Miguel Franco, and a few years ago, my life took an unexpected turn. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, alongside high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and constant fatigue. As a former chef, I thought I understood food but the truth was, I had lost control of my own health.

The stress, poor habits, and lack of balance in my life had caught up with me.


At first, the diagnosis felt devastating. I was scared and unsure of what the future would look like. But instead of giving up, I made a decision that would completely change my life.


During a visit to my family in Spain, I reconnected with the Mediterranean lifestyle, something I had known growing up but forgotten along the way. I started eating fresh, simple and natural food again: colorful vegetables, olive oil, fish, nuts, fruit, and whole grains. I began walking every day, spending more time outdoors, and living life at a slower, more enjoyable pace.


The results were beyond what I ever expected.
My blood sugar stabilized.
My energy returned.

The extra weight disappeared.
And most importantly I felt alive again.


But I didn’t stop there. After my own recovery, I studied and researched the Mediterranean lifestyle in depth, learning how and why it works so powerfully for people with diabetes and metabolic issues. I combined this knowledge with my background as a chef to create delicious, balanced meals that not only improved my health but also brought joy back to the table.


Food should never be about restriction or guilt. It should be about pleasure, nourishment, and connection. That’s the Mediterranean way and that’s what changed my life.


Today, I help others do the same. Through Casa Miguel Mediterranean Lifestyle, I guide people who are newly diagnosed or living with type 2 diabetes to regain control of their health, find balance and enjoy life again all naturally.
